The Mill

This restored water mill is attached to the former bakery and is recorded in the doomsday book . We have records and deeds on display that go back to 1727. This is the only water mill in Dorset with all of the original machinery. It has been conserved to capture this historic importance. 

Accommodation

  • Bedrooms:
  • Bedroom one - Double with built in wardrobe and free view tv. (close to bathroom see below)
  • Bedroom two - Twin with built in wardrobe and balcony overlooking machinery in entrance Lobby.
  • Bedroom three -  Master bedroom , Double with fitted wardrobe, en-suite with Victorian roll top bath, heated towel rail and proper cot. Vaulted ceilings with original beams and machinery viewing area. 
  • Bathroom
  • Fully tiled, modern Wet room with large shower area, Basin, and heated towel rail. (Adjacent bedroom 1)
  • Kitchen & Dining Area
  • Hand made Oak kitchen with all new appliances; washing machine / drier, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, electric AGA. (fully equipped kitchen)
  • Iron, iron board, high chair, and  vacuum cleaner.
  • Living Room:
  • lounge with seating for six, viewing screen of the mill stones and the original machinery. There is a display case with old documents which date back to 1760 and artifacts found on the site and original fire insurance certificates dating back to 1859. There is a free-view  TV, DVD, CD player and Ipod dock
  • Bed linen, hand / bath and tea towels all provided. Please bring your own beach/swimming towels and cot linen.

Notes on accommodation

  • The Mill is child friendly although they must be supervised on the 2nd floor, stair gates can be fitted on the 1st and 2nd floors. There is plenty of landscaped garden space to enjoy around the building. Children must be supervised in the Orchard. Sorry no dogs or Smoking.
  • The building is on three floors, The bin floor (where the finished flour was weighed and bagged) now bedroom, dinning and Kitchen. The Stone floor (where the mill stones grind the corn) now the living room and viewing area. and finally The Sack floor (where the sacks of corn were hoisted into the grain hoppers) which is now bedroom two with en-suite and viewing area. 
  • You are advised that the ceilings are quite low approx 2m with some beams at 1.8m high on ground and first floor level.

 

Outside

The Mill overlooks the leat and orchard with some spectacular views across the countryside, especially from the 2nd floor. There is an area with seating in the orchard by the mill pond set aside for BB Q's etc.

Parking

There is a large parking area with space for 3 cars 

Booking notes

A deposit is required to secure your week(s) 50% of rent. The balance payable 8 weeks before the holiday. If the holiday is booked less than 8 weeks from its commencement, the full charge is payable. All clients are urged to take out cancellation insurance. If you fail to insure or if your claim does not qualify the following applies a) if we are unable to re-let, the moneys paid already shall be forfeit. B) If we re-let we shall refund all moneys less handling charge 50 per week. (There will be a small deposit required for breakages / damage)

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. If the Last Saturday of the month is between the 28th - 31st and this is your depart date - the price will be charged at the next months rate.

Changeover day

Weekly lets run from Saturday to Saturday. Please arrive after 4pm and depart before 11am.
